This One is For You...

Back to school is not just about the classroom decor, handouts that are printed, collated and stapled, welcoming decorations, seating arrangements, lesson plans, RTI, PD, PBIS and all the new acronyms for the year.

REALLY? What else could there possibly be?

If YOU are not taking care of yourself, it doesn't matter how amazing the classroom looks, how innovative the lesson plans, how many trainings you have attended, or how many books you have read about being a great teacher. YOU HAVE TO BE PRESENT and HEALTHY and LIKE YOURSELF to genuinely
pull off all the other 'stuff'.

"Before you assist others, always put your oxygen mask on first." Those of us who have flown on a commercial airline have heard this directive. Really? Before your child, your elderly parent, or someone struggling? YES.

BEFORE YOU CAN HELP OTHERS, YOU HAVE TO HELP YOURSELF
This includes educators.
Before you write your lesson plans.
Before you sign up for that committee.
Before you volunteer for the after school club.
Before you say, 'Sure', the next time someone requests your assistance.

We all want to make a difference.
Teachers make a difference each and every day in the lives of their students.
Make that difference in yourself and you will make an even greater impact on the world.
Studies show that you are more creative, productive, and successful when you are thinking clearly, are less stressed, and yes, smiling and happy.

Below are a few resources to help you begin putting yourself first.
